I use iWeb for maintaining our websites. The iWeb documents folder is in Application Support, it is very important. It holds all the source Domain files.
It was so important that I decided to put it into a my Dropbox as a backup. Dropbox acts like a Folder, iDisk is a remote disk. This is very important, when you drag a file or folder to iDisk it COPIES it, when you drag the same items to Dropbox it MOVES it.
So I had moved all my Domains to the “Cloud”, alls good. Someone needs a set of big files, no worries, I’ll put them on Dropbox and they can download them. I’m sure you can see where this is going. Not enough space, so I quickly decide to move my iWeb backup to the Trash, it is just a backup after all, done.
Time to update my site, OMG, where is my site??? that sick in the stomach feeling as you realise it’s gone.
But... I use TimeMachine with a nice big TimeCapsule, I carefully work my way back in time, and there at May the 3rd, is my iWeb folder, oh happy day! Click Restore and a few minutes later, all is good.
True Story... TimeMachine I love you!
Contact us to order your TimeCapsule today.

Dear iWork.com user,
Thanks for participating in the iWork.com public beta.
Last year we launched iCloud, a service that stores your music, photos, documents and more, and wirelessly pushes them to all your devices. Today, there are already over 40 million documents stored on iCloud by millions of iWork customers. Learn more about iCloud.
With this new way to share iWork documents between your devices using iCloud, the iWork.com public beta service will no longer be available. As of 31 July 2012, you will no longer be able to access your documents on the iWork.com site or view them on the web.
We recommend that you sign in to iWork.com before 31 July 2012, and download all your documents to your computer. For detailed instructions on how to save a copy of your documents on your computer, read this support article at Apple.com.
Sincerely,
The iWork team

Important information for MobileMe members.
Dear MobileMe member,
We'd like to share some exciting news with you about iCloud — Apple’s upcoming cloud service, which stores your content and wirelessly pushes it to your devices. iCloud integrates seamlessly with your apps, so everything happens automatically. Available this fall, iCloud is free for iOS 5 and OS X Lion users.
What does this mean for you as a MobileMe member?
When you sign up for iCloud, you'll be able to keep your MobileMe email address and move your mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the new service.
Your MobileMe subscription will be automatically extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge. After that date, MobileMe will no longer be available.
When iCloud becomes available this fall, we will provide more details and instructions on how to make the move. In the meantime, we encourage you to learn more about iCloud.
Sincerely,
The MobileMe Team

The school holidays is a great time to update those classroom computers and we have been busy getting the last of those done.
During all this we were lucky to have a visit from a Author/Games developer from Austin, Phenix. Ken St. Andre, we are working with Ken to publish some of his books on iBookstore. Exciting times.
This week has been focused on internet. With the MobileMe web hosting ending soon, it was time to check out php, SQL with our web sites. Not that we’ll need all this just yet but we may. There are still a few features MobileMe had that we need to find work arounds for.

Let me just say we use our Apple TV a lot. Over a year ago something went wrong with our FreeView, maybe the dish, cable or box. But with the Apple TV we don’t miss it. We don’t want to watch TV, we don’t like the adds, and it sucks us in and costs us a lot of time.
We have a workflow that means we have a steady flow of TV shows and the occasional movie. Doesn’t seem like a lot of use, but it also runs my photo slideshow during the day, we listen to 5 regular podcasts, we play music, and sometimes even stream our iPads through it.
This next version does make the video look a little better. I’m not sure if the upscaling that it does is better than the what the TV does, but to my old eyes there is more detail and thats what HD is about. Updating out Handbreak setting has traded file size for quality.
We have a small selection of HD movies from the iTunes store and will be watching these again. Last night we watched some of Freakanomics and the text and diagrams really do pop.
I do love these little black boxes, and this latest one is a good step forward. If you have a TV with a HDMI port then contact us for a price.

The speeds were very limited. So we helped 4 of our schools move to normal broadband.
Normal broadband? I thought schools were at the forefront of UFB, yes and no, while the cables are being laid and ready, the price is $450.00 per month, that is simply out of reach for our smaller schools. I could say more but let’s not rock this boat. Grrr...
Now a Government Enquiry...
So how did it go, 4 switch overs and 4 fails, so Chris had to battle with this for most of the start of this week.
Later in the week we had a great visit from one of our suppliers. Being on the other side of “Remote” we don’t normally get to see our colleagues in person. This was very special for us, catching up on news and views from Wellington. Ian still knows many of the people we worked with in our past life, it was great to hear news of them all. Yikes, we’ve been on the Coast for over 20 years now.
Final day of the financial year today, so stock take and EOY rollovers, being done. And so ends year 13, thats like finishing high school.

We wanted hosting that will just work with iWeb, change a few settings once, then click publish. To enable this we have decided to organise a bulk purchase for web hosting that does just work, you can now purchase this through iLike computing limited. It's in New Zealand, this means it is a lot faster than MobileMe, quick to update, and a lot faster for your local visitors to browse. There are a few minor iWeb features that don't work, allowing comments on your Blog posts is one, but we are working on alternatives. Sadly nothing fully matches MobileMe's features.
We can also create custom accounts if these sizes don't fit your needs. There are no additional traffic costs, just this flat annual fee.
To be eligible for our hosting, if you represent a school or business then we will require an annual Web Site workshop for your staff, if you are an individual then you need to have purchased your Mac from us.
We are very pleased to have found a great, affordable, alternative for our customers. Please, don't wait for your web site to disappear from the internet before doing something about moving it.
Call us to book your site!
